Kendrick Lamar masters the art of storytelling in his latest album Good Kid M.A.A.D City. I've known about Kendrick for some time now, but it wasn't until my homie Fred encouraged me to listen to his Section .80 album. After listening to it almost everyday it was evident that Kendrick was one of the best in the rap game. His latest album solidifies his talents and storytelling abilities. The album is a journey through a day with Kendrick and his friends in the streets of Compton. Tracks like "Bitch, Dant Kill My Vibe" "Art Of Peer Pressure" "Money Trees" and one of my personal favorites "Poetic Justice" (which Drake delivers a solid verse) all give details about how life was running around Compton at that time. "M.A.A.D City" and the popular single "Swimming Pools" contribute to the albums storytelling. The album as a whole flows smoothly with no dull song throughout. The only song that could have been left out is the last track "Now or Never" featuring Mary J. Blige. Technically it is left out if you don't get the deluxe version lol. When it's all said and done I believe Kendrick Lamar has created a great body of work and it's only a matter of time when the album will receive classic recognition.
