About a month ago I was introduced to Jamel Shabazz's photographic work. A friend told me my work reminded me of his, so of course I had research some of his work. Turns out he's has series of books filled with photographs he's taken in the streets of New York. The Brooklyn native has a massive body of work ranging from fashion, documentary, and fine-art photography.
For my 24th birthday my parents got me one of Jamel Shabazz's photo books entitled "Back In The Days" Remix the 10th Anniversary Edition. The book is dope to say the least, and it especially interested me because I am a huge fan of street photography. The book literally takes you back into an era of beat boxing, adidas, gold chains, and Kangol hats. His photographs capture the streets and personalities of the people at that time. This book is an inspiration and also a great addition to my collection.
