Yeezy season is back whether you like it or not. Kanye's sixth solo album YEEZUS is different to say the least, but what can you expect from a person who prides himself on constantly evolving with the times. The opening track "On Sight" has a heavy electro sound with production by Daft Punk. The production from Daft Punk doesn't stop there, they also produce "I Am A God" and "Sent It Up" Kanye focus is more on the music than his lyrics this album. "New Slaves" in my opinion is the only lyrical stand out track. Tracks such as "Hold My Liquor" "I'm In It" and "Guilt Trip" are heavily Jamaican influenced, and my personal favorite "Blood On The Leaves" cleverly has the C-Murder anthem "Down 4 My Niggaz" inserted in the beat.
As a huge Kanye West fan I was excited to hear a new album from him, and it honestly took me a few listens to truly appreciate and recognize the artistry and creativity of the music. I like how Kanye was able to use the featured artist in each song in a subtle way. No other artist really has verse on the album except for King L. YEEZUS is like 808's on crack, and while it's not my favorite piece of work from Ye it does push boundaries and it defiantly isn't your average hip-hop album. This album is something that will grow on listeners, like a work of art. Art isn't always understood at first glance, it takes time for a person to analyze and create their own views, which is why not having an album cover makes YEEZUS even that more clever. I have a feeling years from now YEEZUS will be recognized as a classic album.
